Hotbed chive agriculture revitalizes rural Hai'an
Farmers in Tangzao village in Hai'an, a county-level city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, have been busy harvesting hotbed chives after the Spring Festival holiday.
"The price of hotbed chives has increased up to 28 yuan ($4.42) per kilogram, we need to hurry up," said Fu Renlan, a farmer from the village.
With a century of agricultural history, Tangzao village's hotbed chives have earned themselves a good reputation over the years. From the 415 hectares of cultivated area, nearly 200 ha of it is used to plant hotbed chives. The per capita net income of the village's farmers reached 35,000 yuan.
In recent years, Tangzao village adopted a development mode that integrates cooperatives, farmers, and e-commerce sales platforms to expand the influence of its hotbed chives. It received 192 e-commerce marketing orders last year, with total value of 1.52 million yuan.

Having a registered brand called "Jinye" (golden leaf), Tangzao village strives to make its hotbed chives become an influential specialty and develop the hotbed chive agriculture as a pillar industry of the village.
Beyond leading its villagers to prosperity, Tangzao village also aims to develop hotbed chive agriculture in surrounding areas.
