People leaving Nantong required to test negative for COVID-19 before departure

Passengers leaving Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province by train, coach or airplane have since Feb 16 been required to test negative for the novel coronavirus within 48 hours before their departure, according to the latest notice by local authorities.

These travelers must also have their temperatures checked and show green health and travel QR codes before entering the railway station, coach station, and airport.

A notice from Nantong Railway Station states that people returning from other areas must have their temperature taken and show their health and travel QR codes before leaving the station.

People from medium- and high-risk areas in China and those with an asterisk in their green health QR codes must also test negative for COVID-19 within 48 hours before their departure.

A notice from Nantong Automobile Transportation Group Co Ltd and Nantong Xingdong International Airport noted that passengers who cannot provide negative nucleic acid test results can seek refunds for their tickets.

Nantong reported one COVID-19 case on Feb 15. The case has been preliminarily determined as related to the outbreak in Suzhou where 35 confirmed cases and seven asymptomatic ones were reported as of Feb 16.
