​$1.5 billion project lands in Haimen

Ramatex (Nantong) Textile Co Ltd plans to invest $1.5 billion into a high-end textile production base in Haimen district, Nantong, Jiangsu province. It will engage in spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing, printing and tailoring, local media reported on Feb 9.

The base is expected to produce 60,000 metric tons of high-grade knitted fabrics and 150 million knitted garments annually. Construction on the project began in Gangxin district, Haimen district on Feb 9.

The project was invested in by Singapore Ramatex Group, a modern transnational corporation involved in the textile and garment industrial chain. It has strong independent design and new material research and development capabilities and is a major supplier of many internationally renowned garment brands.

High-end textile is Nantong's key industry and the establishment of the Ramatex textile base in Nantong will further increase the influence and competitiveness of Nantong in the textile industry and help Ramatex Group further expand the Chinese market, said Wang Hui, secretary of the CPC Nantong Municipal Committee, at the meeting with Ramatex Group's representatives.
