With a coastline of 86 kilometers, Rudong county – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – is said to have great advantages and potential in terms of its coastal development.

In the current year, the county will focus on promoting the construction of infrastructure and major industrial projects in coastal areas.

The first phase of Tongkun Group's new polyester manufacturing hub at the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone – being built at a cost of over 20 billion yuan ($3.14 billion) and covering some 160 hectares of land – is going full steam ahead. On completion, it will produce 5 million tons of PTA (purified terephthalic acid) annually and 2.4 million tons of new functional fibers.

The Yellow Sea Second Bridge, with a length of some 10 km and a width of 13.1 meters, has had 30 percent of its total work completed. In order to ensure that the cross-sea bridge will be completed and open to traffic on schedule, this year the project department started a new shift system for its workforce and went to simultaneous construction mode.

Through allocating resources rationally and prefabricating materials, the new working mode is said to have effectively ensured the seamless connection of various processes.

After opening to traffic, the Yellow Sea Second Bridge, together with the Yellow Sea First Bridge, is expected provide double transport capacity, effectively satisfying cargo transport demand on  Yangguang Island.
