Nantong receives more than 1.4m tourists during holiday

Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province received more than 1.41 million tourists and generated more than 1.7 billion yuan ($269 million) in tourism revenue during the three-day New Year Festival holiday, local media reported on Jan 3.
The city saw a significant increase in one-day tours and short-distance self-driving tours during the holiday. Rural tourism was highly popular among tourists.

For instance, the Golden Beach scenic area in Qidong held a party and set off fireworks to welcome the first sun rise of the new year, while the Nantong Museum organized exhibitions.
Meanwhile, the Shuihui Garden in Rugao, which has been offering free admission since Jan 1, showcased intangible cultural heritage items and the Zhouji Green Expo Garden, Nantong Botanical Garden, and Rugao Bonsai Art Expo Park greeted tourists with flowers and plants symbolizing good wishes.
