Situated in the Lixia River depression in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River – formed over millennia by many waterways – Duntou town has in recent years wholeheartedly committed itself to being more eco-friendly. It's done this through implementing a river chief system, in which government officials are assigned to take charge of protecting waterways in their area, to ensure the rivers are pristine and unblocked.
