The installation of 100 wind turbines for Rudong H7# offshore wind power project, which has received funding from State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC), was completed on Nov 26 in Rudong county, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.
The project has now entered the final stages of testing before being connected to the national grid.
With a planned area of 130 square kilometers, the project is one of the largest offshore wind power facilities under construction in Rudong. Consisting of H4# and H7# plants, it is equipped with 200 4-megawatt wind turbines, as well as two 220 kilovolts offshore booster stations and an onshore control center.
Despite having to operate in difficult conditions, the construction team took a number of measures to ensure the wind turbines were hoisted into position successfully.
Once the two plants are connected to the national grid and are running at full capacity, they are expected to generate 2.45 billion kilowatt-hours a year. About 768,000 tons of standard coal will be saved annually and carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 1.63 million tons, contributing to China's goal of peak emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.
