The Standardization Administration of China (SAC) recently announced the 2021 list of national agricultural standardized regional service and promotion platform projects.
The city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province had two projects included – the national standardized regional service and promotion platform for the flower and tree industry submitted by the Rugao association of the flower and tree industry, and the national standardized regional service and promotion platform for silkworms submitted by the Hai'an Comprehensive Inspection and Testing Center and the National Center for Silkworm Genetic Resources Preservation of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Located in Hai'an, a county-level city administered by Nantong, the national standardized regional service and promotion platform for silkworms will serve the whole province and Yangtze River Delta region. Focusing on mulberry cultivation and silkworm breeding, the platform will provide services related to agricultural standard system construction, professional silkworm agricultural standard key index verification, the demonstration and extension of silkworm agricultural standardization, mulberry cultivation and planting, and training for silkworm breeding standardization.
The agricultural standardized regional service and promotion platform is meant to transform agricultural scientific and technological achievements into agricultural standards, and is of significance to improving the agricultural standard system and enhancing agricultural standardization.
To date, Nantong has been home to three national standardized regional service and promotion platforms.
