Rudong county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has implemented a project to add, protect and restore green land this year.
Guanxizui Park, located near the Rudong-Taixing Canal, covers an area of around 30,000 square meters. More than 1,200 trees will be planted there, while cherry blossoms, begonia, flowering plums and other trees will be planted at the waterfront landscape area.
"Including the 'Three Rivers and Six Banks' project and Heming Park, as well as supporting greening projects in residential communities and around factories, we have added and improved 800,000 sq m of green land this year," said She Chencheng, an officer of the landscape department of the county's housing and urban-rural development bureau.
"Moving forward, we will focus on tree planting and plan to add or improve 1.2 million sq m of green land throughout the year," She added.
In order to enhance public urban spaces and people's living environment, Rudong has made endeavors to promote the construction of waterfront landscape areas, a large wetland park and other green facilities.
