The wind power sector is surging in Rudong county, administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province.

According to the county's development and reform commission, from January to September the wind power sector and its associated equipment industries generated 50 billion yuan ($7.8 billion) in taxable sales, up 95 percent over the same period last year.

Consisting of 11 offshore wind power plants, the Rudong offshore wind power project is the largest new energy industry project being carried out by county at the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), with investment of over 60 billion yuan and a total installed capacity of 3,300 megawatts.
