A group of nine expats – from Italy, Mexico, Japan, Pakistan, Iran and India – participated in the Go Jiangsu Social Media Trip for Foreigners in Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province, on Sept 13-14.

Themed on "Explore Nantong – the pearl of river and sea", the event was sponsored by the information office of the Jiangsu provincial government and jointly arranged by China Daily and the information office of the Nantong municipal government.

Following their visit to Qidong and Tongzhou district in Nantong on Sept 13, the group visited a cultural experience hall in Chongchuan district on Sept 14.

Dressed in hanfu – a kind of traditional Chinese clothing – the expats tried their hands at the tie-dyeing process and had a go at making Nantong-style embroidery. They also attempted to play the guqin – a seven-string traditional Chinese instrument.

The Go Jiangsu Social Media Trip for Foreigners is a special brand event organized to enable expats to learn more about Jiangsu, by participating in a variety of cultural and folk custom activities in the province's different regions.

Since 2018, over 100 foreigners have taken part in the program.
