Haimen makes strong progress in rural revitalization
Haimen district ranked first among districts and counties in Nantong in rural revitalization progress, according to the city's recently released evaluation report on high-quality growth during the first half of the year.
Villages across the district generated a combined operating revenue of 157.66 million yuan ($24.37 million) from January to June, with an average of 662,400 yuan per village.
Among them, 98 villages had a revenue of at least 550,000 yuan, 74 had a revenue of at least 700,000 yuan, and 56 had a revenue of at least 1 million yuan.
This is a result of the local government's efforts to boost the collective economies of villages and develop new-type agricultural business entities.
The district currently has 75 new-type cooperative farms, covering a total area of 2,067 hectares. The average wheat output of 65 farms in this summer was valued at 11,919 yuan, 1,559 yuan higher than that in the same period last year.
Baomin village in Yuelai town has the largest cooperative farm in the district, measuring 118 hectares. Thanks to mechanized rice-wheat rotation, the village's revenue has been increasing year by year.
This year, the village also cooperated with a bio-tech company to build a 36-hectare countryside complex, producing seasonal selenium-rich agricultural products and offering a destination for tourists to experience rural life.
"The new project will create jobs for more than 30 villagers and ensure that the village's annual revenue exceeds 1.5 million yuan this year," said Zhou Weilong, Party secretary of the village.
