Haimen introduces new policies to boost sci-tech innovation

The government of Haimen district in Nantong recently introduced nine measures to help companies focusing on scientific and technological innovation, aiming to cultivate 135 sci-tech companies by 2025, including five to be listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's sci-tech innovation board, commonly known as the STAR market.

The measures will offer support and subsidies to companies in terms of financing, investment, research and development, cooperation, talent, and going public.

According to the measures, companies that are included in the district's cultivation programs are eligible to subsidies ranging from 100,000 yuan ($15,650) to 1.2 million yuan.

They can also receive a maximum of 200,000 yuan in subsidies for loans that are used for the research and development of new products and upgrading technology.

Those that undertake key R&D projects at the provincial and national levels can receive a maximum of 2 million yuan and 5 million yuan in subsidies, respectively.

For talent introduction, both individuals and companies can receive subsidies if they meet the requirements.

Haimen district has been attacheing heavy importance to sci-tech innovation since the beginning of this year. The district's high-tech and emerging industries have seen year-on-year growth of 56.5 percent and 56.6 percent, respectively, in output during the first quarter of this year.
