After witnessing the enterprise that he leads advance in great bounds to make it onto the list of China's top 500 companies, Rudong entrepreneur Xue Jiping attributed the achievement to the great leadership of the Communist Party of China.

The recent financial report of ZTT Group – based in Rudong county in Nantong, in East China's Jiangsu province – showed that the world-class optical fiber manufacturer and supplier achieved more than 70 billion yuan ($11.0 billion) in sales in 2020.

That performance was rated as being yet another milestone in the enterprise's development history.

The company's success dates back to the mid-1970s when Xue was assigned to help reform a local brick and tile factory. Proud of his identity as a Party member and aware of the responsibilities and duties it brought, Xue rolled out a series of effective measures – turning losses into profits in less than three years with a comprehensive improvement in production efficiency, product quality and wage levels.

His efforts didn't stop there. Xue soon learned that photoelectric technology represented a brilliant new development trend and he boldly established a number of joint ventures in the field in 1992. Due to the policies of the time, only in this way could he import related equipment to move into the business.

ZTT Group came into being as a result and it soon made it into the country's top three in terms of market share. By 2007, ZTT had become the only company in China able to develop and produce a complete set of optical fiber preform products with 100 percent independent intellectual property rights.

Xue didn't take the credit for the achievement, attributing it to the Party and the good era of reform and the opening up. "We should take more responsibility for the country and society," he said.

The Party committee of ZTT Group was recognized as a "dual management" non-public enterprise Party organization by the provincial and municipal Party committee organization departments, while it was also named a Jiangsu Advanced Primary-level Party Organization.
