Jiangsu Giant Food Co Ltd, based in Liuqiao town in Tongzhou district of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, is an agricultural enterprise integrating planting, processing, sales, and research and development of vegetables.

Its feature product, ready-to-eat candouban or halves of broad beans, was invented in 2013 and is popular in Japan. In the first quarter of this year, the value of its export volume reached $800,000.

The soaring sales brought huge demand for broad beans. Xinlian community in Liuqiao town established a special working team to take the initiative to set up a cooperation platform between Giant and the local farmers, and to provide one-stop services including land acquisition and worker recruitment.

Giant adopts multiple cooperation modes such as "firm + specialized cooperative" and "firm + family farm" to extend its industrial chain. Every year, it signs contracts with vegetable planting bases, specialized cooperatives and professional farmers to clarify the varieties, planting time, planting area and purchase quantity of each base.

On the one hand, Giant carries out professional skills training through remote instruction and lessons given by experts to improve plant quality. One the other hand, it carefully designs planting plans for the farmers to raise the efficiency of land utilization.

At present, Giant has mobilized tens of thousands of farmers in Tongzhou and surrounding areas to plant broad beans, increasing farmers' income by more than 30 million yuan ($4.6 million) each year. The company will transfer another 4.3 hectares of land this year for the development and production of extended products.

Chen Jianfeng, Party secretary of Liuqiao town, stated that Liuqiao will continue to provide one-stop and steward-style services in land acquisition and project construction to improve the added value of the project and the competitiveness of the company and to boost rural revitalization.
