Work on the new Second People's Hospital of Qidong in Lyusigang town – located in the county-level city of Qidong in East China's Jiangsu province – started on March 27, in a development expected to add materially to the quality of life of its residents.
Costing an estimated 600 million yuan ($91.6 million), the new facility will reportedly be built to high standards, to provide additional higher-quality medical resources to locals.
The new hospital will have a total floor area of 109,800 square meters, 85,000 sq m of which will be above ground with 24,800 sq m located underground. Plans are for the first phase of the hospital to provide at least 500 beds for the public.
After completion, the Second People's Hospital of Qidong is seen becoming a regional medical center with well-equipped facilities, advanced functions and a convivial environment.
It is expected to efficiently and effectively satisfy the medical and health service needs of the people of Lyusigang town and surrounding areas.
