An islet located at the western mouth of the Nantong-Lyusi Canal is currently being renovated and will become a new tourism destination in Nantong upon completion, local media outlets reported.

The long and narrow islet was formed in the late 1950s, separating the canal into two channels for shipping and a water lock. It has been lying unused for years.

Renovations were launched in 2020 after Gangzha district, where the islet is located, merged with Chongchuan district.

The government of Chongchuan district aims to transform it into a scenic spot featuring floral scenes year-round. It is expected to be finished in May.

The Nantong-Lyusi Canal is a well-known navigation canal in Jiangsu province that stretches 78.85 kilometers across Nantong, linking the Yangtze River to the west with the southern Yellow Sea to the east.
