More than 40 expats in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province joined local volunteers to plant over 120 trees in Suzhou-Wuxi-Nantong Science and Technology Park on March 11, one day before China's Arbor Day.
William James Glover, head of the primary school department of Nantong Nord Anglia School, planted the first tree in the NSIP International Friendship Woods.
"Nantong is a beautiful city, with delicious food and friendly people," said Glover who moved to Nantong in September 2020 and took part in such an activity in the city for the first time.
He said the activity was meaningful, since environmental protection is a global issue. The school he worked for is also planning similar programs.
The international voluntary tree planting activity has been organized by the city's foreign affairs office and information office for 10 years in a row, with more than 1,000 trees in various species being planted, forming an international friendship woods stretching more than 6,600 square meters.
