The Ministry of Education recently issued a notice on the results of examination and approval of proposed undergraduate majors in colleges and universities for 2020. The four undergraduate majors of intelligent manufacturing engineering, new energy materials and devices, artificial intelligence and intelligent medical engineering submitted by Chongchuan-based Nantong University in 2020 were approved and filed.

The addition of four new majors is an important measure taken by Nantong University to further promote the construction of high-level universities and accelerate the cultivation of the talents urgently needed to serve regional economic development. In accordance with a national action plan laying out measures to be taken from 2019 to 2030, the new disciplines will promote the health of citizens, develop strategic emerging industries and meet the need for new engineering majors identified by the Ministry of Education.

In addition to meeting that need the measure will optimize the professional layout of the university and enhance cultivation of high-quality practical talents familiar with new technologies, new industries, new formats and new modes.

According to the university official in charge of the issue Nantong University will further integrate educational resources and promote the quality development of the four new majors in accordance with the national standards for undergraduate teaching to ensure the quality of talent cultivation and improve the university's ability to serve social and economic development.
