Cherry flowers at a family plantation in the Tongzhou Bay demonstration area in Nantong recently started blooming, about two weeks earlier than last year.

Workers are currently busy pruning the flowers and trees, which will help improve the quality of the fruit, according to the plantation's owner Yin Zhigang.

Yin said that the cherry plantation covers an area of 6.8 hectares and that 6,667 square meters of small cherries were the first to bloom. The fruits are expected to enter the market on April 20.
