Qilong town, located in Chongming Island and administered by Qidong, a county-level city of Nantong, has continuously transformed and upgraded the rural library in Yonglong community since its establishment in 2016 to satisfy residents' diversified needs and improve service performance.

In February, the Jiangsu provincial press and publication administration announced the list of the 2018-2019 Jiangsu five-star demonstration rural libraries. Yonglong community's rural library was chosen as the only one in Qidong.

According to Ni Hesheng, general Party branch secretary of Yonglong community, the whole library covers 130 square meters and owns more than 10,000 books covering 22 categories such as literature, art, history and geography. Various magazines and newspapers can basically satisfy residents' needs.

In addition to lending books, the rural library also has three reading areas. The general reading area can accommodate 32 people for reading and exchanging opinions. The children's reading area is full of books for kids and provides them with a comfortable environment. There is also an electronic reading area equipped with eight computers to enable residents to read online.
