The list of Hurun China Top 100 Districts with the Most Investment Potential was released in Liyang, a county-level city administered by Changzhou in East China's Jiangsu province, on Dec 6. Tongzhou was the only district in Nantong included on the list.

The list was issued by the Xinhua Hurun Research Institute which was jointly established by Xinhua Daily Media Group and the Hurun Report in May.

The institute carried out research on 570 areas in the 19 city clusters planned in the 13th national Five-Year Plan (2016-20) in terms of economic strength, investment potential, distinctive culture, environment and other aspects.

Wang Yubin, deputy head of Tongzhou district, accepted the prize as a representative and said that inclusion in the list is an affirmation of Tongzhou's economic and social development.

The opening of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River bridge and railway, the approval of the Nantong new airport site by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, as well as the implementation of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) integration have brought great development opportunities to the district.

In the first three quarters of 2020, Tongzhou achieved a GDP of 110.4 billion yuan ($16.9 billion), up 2.8 percent year-on-year, and general public budget revenue of 4.98 billion yuan.

Tongzhou district has ranked among the top in the province's business environment assessment for three consecutive years and has been commended as an advanced region. Focusing on reform on "one item" this year, it set up 40 special windows to enable people to visit one window for one time for high-frequency items.
