A vessel named Elena, loaded with 65,000 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG), was unloaded at the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Station in Yangkou Port, Rudong county, Nantong on Nov 14. It was the 57th LNG ship received by the Jiangsu station this year and the first one received to guarantee the gas supply since winter comes.

Jiangsu LNG station is a main station for that guarantee as well as seasonal peak shaving in East China. Each year, from Nov 15 to March 15 of the following year, the Jiangsu station increases the number of LNG ships received and unloaded, as well as the export volume of natural gas, sparing no effort to guarantee the daily heating of residents in East China.

At present, the station is connected to several lines of the project for shipping natural gas from west to east, with a maximum gasification export capacity of 39 million cubic meters per day.

During the winter, equal emphasis should be put on both speed and stability. "Compared with previous years, the gasification export volume of LNG in a single day will climb to 35 million cu m from the usual 18 million at short notice as soon as the heating mode is on," according to Zhuang Fang, manager in charge of production and operation in PetroChina Jiangsu Liquefied Natural Gas Co Ltd.
