Rudong promotes offshore wind power construction
Construction started on a 500kV power transmission project in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province on July 3.
The project is expected to be fully completed and put into operation in October next year, by which time the offshore wind power delivery capacity of Rudong will be increased by 2 million kW.
The integration of the Yangtze River Delta has led to a boost in green development, which was allowed the new energy industry to prosper, especially the development of offshore wind power.
"There are 13 offshore wind power projects being constructed in Rudong, with the total installed capacity reaching 3.8 million kW," according to Zhou Jianyong, the general manager at a power supply company in Rudong.
The construction of the 500kV power transmission project will increase offshore wind power production capacity in Jiangsu by 6.4 million kW and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 17.6 million tons annually.
The rapid construction of supporting projects is helping to improve the overall new energy system. Rudong will work to develop offshore wind power, accelerate the development of the wind power industry, and promote the formation of a new energy industry chain, said Tang Jianrong, section chief at the energy department of Rudong's development and reform commission.
