The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission announced the list of key rural tourism villages in 2020. Nantong has three villages included.
Shuangmeng village of Xianfeng sub-district, Tongzhou district, enjoys a favorable location. The Zhou Ji Green Expo Garden, a national 4A-level scenic spot in Nantong, sits in the village. Integrating the functions of plant exhibition, science popularization and education, natural protection, thematic photography, catering and entertainment, as well as tourism and shopping, it is a comprehensive themed botanical garden, rare in China.
In a bid to further promote the development of rural tourism products in Jiangsu province, the provincial department of culture and tourism, together with the development and reform commission, launched a selection for the provincial key rural tourism villages in June.
On the basis of local selection and recommendations, expert reviews and social publicity, 31 villages are included in the final list. They will have priority in project construction, brand building, market promotion and credit support and other relevant policies.
