Tongzhou issues two routes to boost rural tourism

Tongzhou district in Nantong recently issued two travel routes – a one-day tour in eastern Tongzhou and a two-day tour in western Tongzhou.

The two routes include renowned scenic spots such as Flower Town, Kaisha Island and the Zhou Ji Green Expo Garden, and leisure attractions that show the farming culture of Tongzhou district such as the Jingrui Agriculture base and the Qiyuan grape base.

Aimed at high-quality development, Tongzhou district has explored a new development mode integrating culture and travel through brand building and project construction in recent years.

Some excellent travel routes for exploring fitness, historic landscapes, cultural experiences and rural ecology attract numerous visitors from Shanghai and Jiangsu province in the south.

To date, Tongzhou district has built a provincial resort – Kaisha Island, a national 4A-level scenic spot – as well as Zhou Ji Green Expo Garden and a Flower Town constructed to the 4A standard.

In 2019, the total number of tourists visiting Tongzhou district exceeded 4.9 million, up 11.5 percent year-on-year; tourism revenue reached 6.6 billion yuan ($964 million), up 12.2 percent year-on-year.

In the first half year of 2020, the district welcomed more than 1.9 million tourists and took in over 3 billion yuan in tourism revenue.
