Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has invested 39.75 million yuan ($5.7 million) since 2018 in building four mechanical parking garages. After completion, 723 parking spots will be added and parking difficulties in urban areas will be greatly alleviated.

Three mechanical parking garages located south of Qidong hotel, east of Tuanjie Street and west of the China Mobile offices adopt lifting and transversal technology and can accommodate SUV parking.

The garages have set up a 24-hour hotline service number and parking administrators to provide consultations and other services at any time. They are also equipped with safety facilities, such as fire sprinklers and smoke detectors, to prevent auto-ignition and other accidents.

The parking garage south of Qidong hotel started operating in February 2019. With investment of 3.75 million yuan, it covers 600 square meters and has 80 parking spots. It is open for free temporarily.

Put into use in May 2020, the parking lot east of Tuanjie Street has four floors and 165 parking spots. With investment of 6 million yuan, it offers free admissions for the moment.

The seven-floor parking garage west of China Mobile came into use in December 2019. At a cost of 11 million yuan, it covers 700 sq m and boasts 179 parking spots. It is open for free temporarily.

To the west of Yinzhou International Financial Center lies the last of the four garages, which is scheduled to open to the public in August 2020. Costing 19 million yuan, the three-floor parking lot covers 5,600 sq m and will have 299 parking spots.
