Suzhou calligrapher showcases skills in Nantong

An exhibition of calligraphy works by Qian Yuqing, an artist from Suzhou, Jiangsu province, opened in Nantong on June 27.

Government officials, including Xu Huimin, secretary of the Nantong Party committee and Gu Hao, former deputy secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, and art workers from Suzhou, Yancheng and Nantong attended the opening ceremony.

Xu said Nantong and Suzhou have maintained a close relationship in culture and art since ancient times. Cultural activities such as this exhibition will further promote communication and integration between the two cities, and also contribute to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

Qian, an outstanding representative of young and middle-aged calligraphers in Suzhou, is the chairman of the calligraphers association of Suzhou Industrial Park and a specially appointed professor of the Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University.

The exhibition displays more than 80 calligraphy works and a few paintings produced by Qian over the past three years. The exhibition will run until July 26.
