A national dyeing exhibition sponsored by Nantong Blue Calico Museum and Nantong University opened at Zaowu Tiandi (Creation World) in downtown Nantong on June 13, Cultural and Natural Heritage Day.
On display are more than 150 diverse works featuring dyeing techniques from Nantong, Yunnan, Guizhou, and other regions.
"The work by Liu Xiaohuan, a trainee from Suzhou, applies the traditional dyeing techniques to interior decorations," said Wu Yuanxin, curator of the Nantong Blue Calico Museum.
All of the works were produced in dyeing training courses hosted by Nantong University over the past few years.
To date, Nantong University has organized five dyeing training courses in response to a training plan for inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items launched by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education in 2015.
More than 200 artists from around the country have attended the courses, each of which lasted one month.
"The training courses are meant to promote the innovative development of traditional culture and increase the role intangible cultural heritages play in our everyday lives," said Wu.
According to the organizers, the exhibition will run until June 20.
