A conference on the offshore wind power industrial chain was held in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province on June 8, in an effort to jointly promote the high-quality development of the offshore wind power industry.
More than 500 government officials, experts specializing in wind power, and representatives from over 300 enterprises involved in the wind power industrial chain attended the conference.
Xu Huimin, secretary of the Nantong municipal Party committee, made a speech stating that the city is among the first in the province to develop offshore wind power. The installed capacity of wind facilities in Nantong is around 6 million kilowatts, and 1.45 million kW are already in operation, accounting for one-fourth of China's total offshore wind power capacity.
Nantong is creating the world's largest industrial park for wind power facilities and has established the only offshore wind port in the country. The city is an ideal place to develop a wind power industrial chain due to its favorable location, complete transportation network, and abundant wind power resources.
A three-year plan for the construction of a "wind power city" was issued at the conference. By the end of 2022, the city is expected to have an installed capacity of 8 million kW, with its wind power industry to be valued at 120 billion yuan ($16.94 billion).
In addition, 24 project deals were signed at the conference. They involve investment promotion, industrial cooperation, and financing. A wind power equipment manufacturing center was also unveiled that same day.
