An international forum on wind power was held in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province on Nov 9.

Experts and enterprise representatives gathered from home and abroad to attend the forum, with the aim of analyzing the current development of wind power in China and Europe, with a focus on discussing the potential opportunities of the wind power industry in the county.

The county was honored as a national base for wind power in 2016 and is known as China's top region in the wind power industry.

In 2018, the construction of 11 wind power plants were officially approved in Rudong with a total installation capacity of 3.2 million kilowatts and the plants are expected to be in operation within three to five years. The total investment in wind power projects that are under construction has reached 68 billion yuan ($9.71 billion).

It is expected that the annual wind power generation in Rudong will exceed 13.5 billion kilowatts in 2020.
