Jianshan Mountain, one of the Five Mountains in Nantong, Jiangsu province, reopened for a trial run on June 2, after 11 months of ecological restoration.

The mountain rises 87.33 meters above sea level and once boasted several temples built during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

However, as of 1984, there were only 14 temple houses left, which have been under the administration of the city's Buddhist association.

The mountain was closed in July 2019 for ecological restoration. Work meant to prevent natural disasters and damage on the mountain have been completed, and the scenic spot has also been equipped with new firefighting facilities.

To promote the history and culture of Jianshan Mountain, the scenic spot also plans to introduce a series of creative cultural products and hold a variety of activities in the future, including a zongzi (a pyramid-shaped glutinous-rice dumpling) making event during the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 25 this year.

On the day of the mountain's reopening, all venues for religious activities at the Nantong Langshan National Forest Park, including Guangjiao Temple on Langshan Montain, Putuo Bieyuan on Junshan Mountain, and Wenshu Temple on Jianshan Mountiain also reopened.
