The Nantong West Railway Station, located in Tongzhou district, Nantong, finished its preliminary inspection on May 20 and is expected to start operating at the end of June.

Both its exterior and interior have been completed, and small adjustments are now being carried out based on the results of the inspection.

The new station is larger than other newly-built stations along the Nantong-Shanghai Railway and is the first high-speed railway station in the city. It features local cultural designs such as blue calico.

Passengers must pass through a security check before entering the waiting area, and can purchase tickets by scanning a QR code at the self-service ticketing machines, which helps stop crowds from forming at the entrance.

Construction on the station started on April 18, 2019, and its main structure was completed on Oct 10, 2019. This March, a canopy roof was installed and the interior was completed. It took only 13 months to complete construction and undergo the preliminary inspection.
