A photography competition will be held at Nantong Forest Safari Park in Gangzha district, Nantong from May 23 to 24.

The activity is being organized by the park, the Xingfu street community and Nantong Daily Media Group, with the aim of boosting the zoo's reputation and improving Nantong's tourism industry as the COVID-19 epidemic subsides.

Nearly 100 journalists from Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Taizhou, Yancheng and Yangzhou, as well as photographers from Nantong, will take part in the activity, according to the organizers.

The park covers an area of more than 200 hectares in the Xingfu street community and is home to nearly 300 species of 20,000 wild animals.

It is divided into three areas for drive throughs, walking and boating.

The drive through area located in the south of the park, where animals wander free range. The walking area is in the north, where visitors can get a close look at rare wild animals, including pandas, Asian elephants and pumas. The boating area is in the west, mainly home to water birds, such as oriental white storks and black-neck swans.

The park opened to the public on Sept 28, 2018 and received 1.2 million visitors in 2019. It was closed in late January this year, due to the COVID-19 outbreak and reopened on March 11.
