The Xinjiang Grand Theater, which was built by the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region branch of Nantong Si Jian Construction Group, has won the Zhan Tianyou Award for engineering, according to local reports on April 22.
Named after the "father of China's railways", the Zhan Tianyou Award is the highest honor for engineering and innovation in China's civil and structural engineering industry. It was established in 1999 by the China Civil Engineering Society and the Beijing Zhan Tianyou Development Foundation for Science and Technology.
The theater's main building is built in an Islamic architectural style and features a snow lotus. The theater is part of efforts to boost the region's cultural and tourism industries, and has played an important role in cooperation related to the Belt and Road Initiative.
The theater's construction team was faced with various difficulties when building it, such as limited time, labor shortages, and a challenging environment. However, under the guidance of Meng Jianmin, a famous Chinese building designer, the team was able to complete the theater successfully.
The Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region branch of Nantong Si Jian Construction Group has constructed a number of buildings during its 40 years of operating in the region and ranks among the most trusted local construction enterprises.
In 2019, Nantong Si Jian Construction Group, based in Tongzhou district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, was honored with two China Construction Engineering Luban Prizes. The group has won a total of 30 Luban Prizes, more than any other construction company in the province.
