The public budget revenue of Haimen was 1.92 billion yuan ($270.91 million) in the first quarter of this year, 26.6 percent of the city's annual goal, according to statistics from the city's finance bureau.

Total tax revenue from January to March was 1.51 billion yuan, accounting for 25.5 percent of the annual goal. Non-txable income was valued at 410 million yuan, accounting for 31.7 percent of the annual goal.

Officials said the real economy has been the main reason for the stable growth. The local government has attached great importance to promoting the development of the real economy and ensuring the industrial, service, and construction sectors develop at an equal pace.

Since the beginning of this year, 32 construction projects have begun, and construction on existing projects continues to progress smoothly. The city has also continued to improve  government services for local companies, providing full support to companies trying to resume operations amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

During the first quarter of this year, the city's taxable industrial sales grew by more than 10 percent. Companies such as Jiangsu Hanchen Pharmaceutical Co and Zhongxing Energy Equipment Co have each paid more than 10 million yuan in taxes.
