Rudong's transportation project wins provincial high-quality award
Gangcheng Middle Road in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province recently won the "Yangtze Cup", a Jiangsu provincial high-quality award, the highest honor available which recognizes the quality of engineering projects in the province.
A total of 11 transportation engineering projects in the province were listed, and it was the first time that a project in Rudong county was included.
The four-lane Gangcheng Middle Road stretches for around 15 kilometers and is 40 meters wide. It can facilitate speeds up to 80 km per hour. Construction on the road began in March 2014 and was completed in July 2018, costing about 400 million yuan ($56.75 million) in total.
The road, connecting central Rudong county and Yangkou Port, is intended to contribute to the development of the coastal industry. It has won several provincial awards for its high quality and management.
The road is expected to boost the urbanization of the county, promote the development of Yangkou Port and improve the regional investment environment.
According to Chen Ruzhong, deputy director of the county's bureau of transportation, strict management and supervision systems have been set up in the county to ensure the quality of local projects, and many projects have been endowed with municipal and provincial awards in recent years.
