Xindian town, Rudong recognized for high-quality rice

Xindian town in Rudong, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, was recently recognized for its high-quality rice at a conference on the rice industry in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The conference, hosted by Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Anhui, aims to boost the development of the rice industry and improve the competitiveness of rice in the Yangtze River Delta region. Experts from these places were invited to share their views at the conference.

A total of 28 towns were recognized for their high-quality rice. All the towns have a strong presence in the rice industry and a healthy natural environment.

Xindian town has a total area of 45,000 mu (3,000 hectares) for rice growing, 80 percent of which is used to cultivate high-quality japonica rice. A total of eight rice processing enterprises are now operating in the town.

The town sells about 200,000 metric tons of rice per year, 12,000 tons of which are considered high-grade rice. The rice is sold in several large and medium-sized cities, including Nantong, Suzhou, and Shanghai.

The town has seven registered trademarks for rice, and the rice of Lyv Zhi Lan Rice Co, a company based in the town, was recognized as "high-quality Jiangsu rice" in both 2018 and 2019.

A large production base for high-quality rice has been established in the town. Its operation model integrates enterprises, production bases, and farmers, improving efficiency, and management.

The town also has seven rice drying centers equipped with a total of 56 dryers, which can dry around 18,000 tons of rice every season.
