An industrial base of Jinguang Group for high-quality tissues, costing 45 billion yuan ($6.36 billion), is currently under construction in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province.

The industrial base will make heavy use of artificial intelligence (AI), ranking it among the most advanced industrial bases in the world.

As one of the province's major projects, the base aims to promote the high-end green industrial development of Rudong and become one of the world's top industrial bases. It integrates advanced technology and smart manufacturing, and forms a recycling economy.

Construction on the project resumed on Feb 21. About 80 percent of workers have returned and around 1,000 workers are estimated to be working on each line during the peak construction period, said Ge Jianjun, deputy manager of the project.

Construction on the first workshop is expected to be finished by the end of this year, and four production lines are expected to begin operating. Annual output is expected to reach 360,000 metric tons by the end of June 2021.

In addition, in order to deliver raw materials for the project more efficiently, the wharf at Yangkou Port will be expanded and annual throughput is expected to exceed 3 million tons in the near future.
