Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, hosted a conference on Jan 22 to discuss measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

Officials were urged to prioritize people's security and health, and all departments were told to report accurate information and inform locals how to protect themselves from the virus.

Contingency plans are currently being improved and emergency response teams are being established. Communication systems have also been strengthened to ensure information can be shared throughout the city.

In addition, public transit vehicles are required to be disinfected every day and people must be examined at airports, railway stations, and wharfs.

Several local public activities have been suspended as well, and hospitals have enhanced the management of fever clinics.

To date, no new cases of the coronavirus have been found in the city.
