Ten intelligent manufacturing plants in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, were recently recognized as models for the province on a list released by the provincial industry and information technology and finance departments.

The list included a new-generation communication equipment plant, a new materials plant and a lithium cell plant owned by Zhongtian Technology Co, a quilt plant owned by Luolai Group, a customer-to-manufacturer plant owned by Lansiu Hometextiles, a tailored product plant owned by Mlily and other plants involving jack assembly, pesticides, and aluminum shells.

Intelligent manufacturing plants are those integrate robots, intelligent equipment, and information technology into production. The list was a result of an evaluation on 12 indicators, including the number of automatic production lines, the proportion of intelligent equipment, and the application of self-recognition technology.

In recent years, the Nantong government has been carrying out efforts to help local firms transform and upgrade their production with intelligent technology.

By the end of 2019, the city was home to 144 intelligent manufacturing plants, including 59 at the provincial level.
