Nantong reports stable growth in 2019

The fourth session of the 15th Nantong Municipal People's Congress was held on Jan 7 in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province. Xu Huimin, secretary of the Communist Party of China Nantong Committee, presided over the meeting.

Wang Hui, acting mayor of the city, delivered a work report for the municipal government, saying the government had fulfilled the goals it set at the beginning of the previous year and will strive to make even more progress in 2020.

According to Wang, the city's economy saw stable growth in 2019, with its regional GDP expected to reach 940 billion yuan ($135.36 billion), a year-on-year increase of more than 6.5 percent. Public budget revenue increased 2.2 percent year on year to 61.93 billion yuan; fixed-asset investment grew 6.5 percent; total retail sales of consumer goods rose 5.5 percent; and per capita disposable incomes of urban and rural residents grew 8.3 percent and 8.5 percent, respectively, to 50,166 yuan and 24,270 yuan.
