A 5G experience center officially started operating on Dec 11 at the Nantong motor vehicles department in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.

The center combines 5G and virtual reality (VR) technology with education about the Communist Party of China, the Communist Youth League of China, science and technology, culture, military affairs, and traffic safety.

It is the first of its kind established by public security departments in Jiangsu and consists of two areas for watching videos and studying eight different topics: national conditions, provincial conditions, city conditions, traditional culture, environmental protection, laws and regulations, and industries.

Participants can earn points by answering questions on the platform and exchange them for offline VR games or other rewards.

More than 600 people have visited the center since it started trial operations in late November.

"It is a platform for both learning and publicity," said Gu Jian, a senior official at the city's public security bureau.

"The center will promote ideological education and more awareness of Party theories among youth," he added.
