Zheng Jianping, an artist born in Tongzhou district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, recently held an exhibition of paintings in his hometown.

The exhibition showcased more than 20 new paintings by Zheng. The most influential painting in this exhibition was one named Purple Air Coming from the East.

Zheng once learned from Gao Guanhua, a famous traditional Chinese painter, and has been painting for over 40 years. His works cover a wide variety of subjects and themes.

When talking about his teacher, he said that what Gao taught him still greatly influences him and inspires him to find the proper direction in his painting.

He added that artists at present are lucky to live in prosperous times and should create more works close to nature for the public to enjoy.
