An exhibition showcasing the artworks of Shen Qipeng, a famous artist born in Nantong, Jiangsu province, was held in Rudong county on Nov 25.

Around 100 calligraphy and painting enthusiasts participated in the opening ceremony and browsed the exhibition.

The exhibition consisted of three sections: one that displayed 13 Chinese paintings, one that displayed over 3,000 sketches, and one that displayed literature written by Shen. The exhibition revolved around Shen's life, work, and character.

Shen is skilled in landscape and bird-and-flower paintings, and a number of his paintings have proved popular among the general public.

After the opening ceremony, Shen delivered a lecture to art teachers and enthusiasts and shared his experiences in painting. He encouraged participants to get close to life, learn from life, and gain inspiration from life.

The 10-day exhibition will run until Dec 5.
