The 2019 Nantong New Generation Information Technology Expo was held at Nantong International Exhibition Center in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, from Nov 2 to 4.

The expo covered 10,000 square meters and consisted of seven exhibition areas for local IT development platforms, companies, applications and innovations, semiconductors, 5G technology, and artificial intelligence.

Over 70 firms, including domestic tech giants JD, Alibaba, Huawei and Tencent, showcased some of their latest products at the exhibition.

One of the expo's highlights was a leaky coaxial cable developed by Zhongtian Technology Group (ZTT), with large numbers of visitors stopping to take a closer look.

According to company representatives, the technology has been used in the 5G communication networks of several cities due to its low loss, wide radiation angle and well-distributed coverage.

A red and black delivery robot created by JD also proved popular with attendees. The third-generation machine is equipped with facial recognition and QR code verification technologies.

It can carry up to eight packages and deliver them from logistics centers to office buildings and residential areas. The robots are already being used in some of China's major cities.

Several industrial summits and promotional conferences were held alongside the expo, with 36 IT projects signed, receiving 21.4 billion yuan ($3.05 billion) in investment.
