Haimen carries out renovations on Jianghai Road

Renovation work on Jianghai Road has begun in Haimen, Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province. A commencement ceremony was held on Sept 16, according to local media reports.

The renovation project, which consists of the redesign of the road’s primary and subsidiary lines in order to alleviate traffic congestion, starts from the G40 Shanghai-Xi’an Expressway in the north and extends to Shanghai Road in Haimen in the south. It is around 8,800 meters in length and is divided into a northern part, middle part, and southern part.

Renovations on the northern section of the road will begin at the G40 Shanghai-Xi’an Expressway exit to Sichou Road and include Jianghai Road, the G228 butterfly-shaped full-crossing overpass, main line viaducts, ground-level roads, auxiliary projects, etc. The main line is 2,710 meters long. 

Renovations on the middle section will extend from Sichou Road to Xiushan Road, which consists of a 1,535-meter tunnel.

Southern section renovations will extend from Xiushan Road to Shanghai Road, which consists mainly of elevated bridges and auxiliary ground roads.

Renovation work is expected to last around two and a half years.
