A signing ceremony for the establishment of a vegetable research institute was held in Hai'an, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Sept 6.

According to local officials, the research institute will be co-constructed by the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the bureau of agriculture and rural affairs of Hai'an, and Hai'an Rongcheng Agricultural Development Co Ltd. The institute will take advantage of Hai'an's strong economy, location, and environment to develop the vegetable industry.

Local officials said at the ceremony that the research institute will boast high-quality facilities and technology to help it propel the development of modern agriculture.

The institute is expected to help the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Hai'an's local enterprises strengthen scientific research, accelerate the transfer and commercialization of scientific research achievements, and improve market competitiveness of Hai'an's vegetable industry.

The Hai'an government will provide all necessary supports and services for the construction and development of the research institute.
