A press conference was held by the district government of Tongzhou, Nantong to discuss the district’s economic situation in the first half of 2019.

In the first half of the year, Tongzhou’s GDP was 70.33 billion yuan ($10.22 billion), representing a year-on-year growth of 6.7 percent. This was 0.2 percent higher than the average growth rate of Nantong city.

The added value of primary industries in the district was 2.65 billion yuan, for secondary industries it was 36.45 billion yuan, and for tertiary industries it was 31.23 billion yuan. Service enterprises above state designated size in Tongzhou earned a total operating income of 4.99 billion yuan, an increase of 21.6 percent.

Tongzhou was also met with another bumper crop, bringing the value of the farming industry to 2.53 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.2 percent.
