Hai'an Bonded Logistics Center in Hai'an, Nantong, in eastern Jiangsu province, is applying to be officially designated as a meat importation port – to help further develop its economy, according to local media reports.

Hai'an has the only provincial commercial logistics industry park in Jiangsu Province. There are four major functional platforms in the park, including a bonded logistics platform and platforms for future deliveries, multimodal transport and spot transactions.

At the same time, the park has built a high standard special bonded warehouse for cold chain meat storage and transportation, covering an area of 16,000 square meters, which can process a cold chain turnover of 50,000 tons of meat products per year.

At present, another 40,000 sq m special bonded warehouse, with a 100,000 ton storage capacity for meat, is under construction and will be completed at the end of this year.

Officials said its successful establishment as a designated meat importation port will fill a gap in central Jiangsu province -- and will be of great significance in fostering a new economic growth engine, meeting market demand and supply consumers.
